The bear is new as it does not appear on GoogleEarth. I think the bear was fashioned from a tree which stood there until recently. It must have died or fallen down and the owners decided to have the bottom made into the bear. The statue has the same twists and turns on its stump as does the tree in the Satellite picture. I think they may have chain sawed the stump, left with it and then brought it back and matched it up as best they could to make it look as original as possible. The bear is hiding a sign advertising the insurance agent. The bear is about 7 feet tall, up on its hindquarters. Add a few more feet with the sump/base. It is newly stained a dark red/brown color.
