Spirit of the American Doughboy - Chambersburg, PA - Viquesney's Spirit of the Doughboy Statues on Waymarking.com

This Viquesney statue is in fair condition and has the original barbed wire still in place. It was dedicated November 12, 1923 and is documented by the Smithsonian Art Museum; control number is 47260094.

The staute is located in a small park at the triangle where US Route 30 becomes divided into one way traffic.

The statue was erected by the citizens of Franklin County, PA.

A single plaque on the south side of the base reads:

"They shall live forevermore our glorious dead.
1917 - 1919
(A list of the 91 servicemen from Franklin County who were killed)
Erected to the memory of the men and women of Franklin County who gave their lives in the World War."
