The concrete retaining wall is defining the path edge along a stream in Byfield. The path runs south-east from The Green and splits in the area of the rivet. One path goes uphill to the churchyard of Holy Cross and the other continues in a southerly direction along the stream side, and along the side of the playing field.

It is at gound level on the west side of the path (and the east side of the stream) and was last verified in 1967 as being 142.8537m above Newlyn Datum.
