The largest Celtic oppidum in Czech Republic was built on the hill "Hradiste" at an altitude of 391 m above a river Vltava a very close to capital city Prague. The peak was named the wrong name of Závist, which is still generally used. The difference in height between the surface of the river and peak parts reaches 200 m. The entire area was declared a national cultural monument.
The settlement consists of several defensive lines and elements. On the site were found the remains of trenches, walls, palisades and several gateways. Highest part of the settlement (Acropolis) was examined about 20 years in the period 1973 - 1990.
After exploratory work it was decided to overlay the site by backfill again and give place to the state before commencement of the research.
