In Belmont, within the Habitat Massachusetts Audubon Wildlife Sanctuary, there is a life-sized metal sculpture of a Great Horned Owl.

The sculpture has a lot of detail. The owl looks like it just swooped in for the kill, with wings spread and talons drawn. The eyes, beak, and talons are in brass. Individual feathers are shaped like hemlock branches.

There is a plaque below that has the following:

"Presented to
Elizabeth and Elisha Atkins
Whose love of the envrionment and dedication to Habitat have nourished generations of naturalists, artists and educators.
From their children
---
Great Horned Owl by Mary Taylor
June 2002"

Habitat Massachusetts Audubon Wildlife Audubon is one of many sanctuaries across Massachusetts. The sanctuary is located within the neighborhood section of Belmont Hills. From Route 60, Pleasant Street in Belmont, turn onto Clifton Street going away from town. Turn left onto Fletcher Street (watch for street signs), then bear left at a fork, then left onto Juniper Rd. The entrance will be on the right. The sanctuary is free to Massachusetts Audubon members, $4 for adults, and $3 for seniors and children.
