Springfield is actively developing and beautifying its tourists areas to make it a more pleasant place for residents and visitors. Several of these cylindrical "You Are Here" maps are located outside major attractions.

This one is located outside the entrance to the old visitors information center in Riverfront Park. This was once the first place northbound travelers on I-91 could stop a get information on lodging and attractions in western Massachusetts. The visitors information center moved 450 yards southeast into the new Basketball Hall of Fame building. Currently the building is vacant but the "you are here" sign remains.
