The solar system display is built to a diameter scale of 1"= 2.873 miles and a distance scale of 1' = 10,333,333 miles. The display starts at a large golden arch which represents the sun and each of the planets are positioned and sized from that point. The planets are placed along a walkway and down a groomed grassy hill to the planet pluto. Each of the planets are displayed with interesting facts poster describing it. Visitors can walk along the string of planets and experience the size and distance along with learning about our solar system.

The Thanksgiving Point solar model helps visitors understand the relative positions/distances and size of the planets in our solar system to one another.

The display was interesting and helpful to understand the relative size and materials that may be present on the planets.
