The Del Mar Racetrack is on the grounds of the San Diego County Fair at 2260 Jimmy Durante Blvd., Del Mar, CA 92014. You can see the ocean from the grandstands. This was/is a celebrity hangout. It's first owners in 1937 were Bing Crosby,Pat O'Brien, Jimmy Durante, Charles S. Howard and Oliver Hardy. Bing Crosby's song "Where the Surf Meets the Turf at Del Mar" is played before the first race every day.
Each year, the track has a 43 day season starting a few weeks after the July 4th weekend conclusion of the San Diego County Fair. The track only has day racing- starting at 2 p.m.
A Polytrack surface was added in 2007.
