This ruined castle rises above the banks of the Teifi, where it dominated the landscape since at least 1165AD. Unusually for castles, this castle has two large rounded towers instead of a keep at the centre. These are still standing to this day.

This ruined castle rises above the banks of the River Teifi, where it dominates the landscape. A castle on this site was first mentioned in 1165AD. The current remains date mainly from the 13th and 14th centuries.
In 1223AD, the castle was captured by William Marshall, the Earl of Pembroke, and he is responsible for much of what remains visible today. Unusually for castles, this castle has two large rounded towers instead of a keep at the centre. These are still standing to this day.
Note that this site is managed jointly Cadw.
There is no onsite parking. If driving to the site, you'll need to park in town, and walk to the castle.
