Although the sign itself is not particularly unusual, the name may be unique.

There are other pubs with the pigeon featured in it's name, such as Pigeon Pie (Sherbourne in Elmet) and Pigeon Pair (Reigate), so far as I am able to establish, this is the only 'Three Pigeons'.

Pigeon racing is popular in this area, indeed that is the reason for the existence of The Macclesfield Flying Club. No aeroplane required.

The pub is currently closed and needs some TLC as does the sign.
