This civil Defence Siren, Is on top of the old Yorkville Fire House and some have heard it on a clear night; as far as 9 miles! At Corners of 20th & West Norwegian Sts.

This Baby can be heard on clear night; 9 miles away! I live 9 blocks away and it wakes me up every time! It's "BIG" and Yellow and Spins! Was bought as a civil air defence in the Cold war days in the 1950's!
They(firemen) use it to call Volunteer firemen to the Fire house for fire duty! And to start parades! The people who live nearby or right under it, when it first was installed, had their windows crack! It's in the Suburbs of this city!
It's a Spinning type so you hear it and then you don't, 5 seconds go bye and you hear it again!
