The plaque on the pub wall reads:
"The / Round House / In 1860 Garrick Street was / opened to improve access to / Covent Garden Market and the theatres. / Garrick Street became so popular that / this public house was opened in 1868 / as the "Petters Hotel" and for the next / 75 years became a famous watering hole / for visitors to the theatre and / market tradesmen alike. / In 1943 the "Petters Hotel" was / renamed The Round House to compliment / the unmistakeable shape of the building! / Apart from the name change, little has / altered including the pub's reputation / for serving a fine range of ales / to its many visitors".
