This bridge connects the public bridleway on south bank with public footpath route across the fields to Fisherground. The field is currently mown for hay. Either side the path is grass. Not yet worn down to bare rock.

Parking would be a problem as the main valley road is only wide enough for two cars to pass. Park at Forge Bridge downstream and walk. Or park at Trough House free car park and walk downstream.

There are simple swing gates at either side which spring shut to keep the sheep off the bridge. The local Herdwick sheep are canny beasts and would work out how to get across without getting wet. The deck is made of wooden slats and has quite a sway. There are no maker's ident in the castings.
