This is one of a pair of identical signs, located on the B1383, North and South of the village. The sign consists of a medieval night in chain mail and pointed helmet. The sign also has the words Magna Carta 1215. The imagery of the sign alludes to Richard de Mountfitchet. Richard was one of the barons that forced King John to sign the Magna Carta. In addition to owning lands at Stansted, Richard owned the island at Runnymede where the Magna Carta was signed.
