This fantastic mosaic/mural was produced by NetworkArts, a local outreach organization that educates through art and beautifies our schools and other pubic venues. They are magical. This particular piece focuses on the environment, especially the trees. The names listed or credited are Josey Stamm and martin McClure and students from Ms. Weiss' Third Grade. The mosiac is dated 2000.

From a PDF page about their work I learned the entire school actually participated in the project, or so they say. The mural is located at the J.H. Brown School in Northeast Philadelphia and it is an outdoor installation expressing what Children Can Do To Save Trees. There are several colorful trees and text ll over the place expressing the students thoughts on saving trees.

From their website:

NetworkArts is dedicated to expanding children's opportunities to express themselves, to explore science, the arts, and the humanities, and to create art that permanently transforms their communities. The multi-faceted educational programs of NetworkArts have transformed the lives of thousands of children and enriched countless communities for over a decade.

Through a richness of process, NetworkArts begins with the curriculum and ends with the art form of tile mosaics. Students broaden their life experiences by collaboratively exploring new and exciting topics, dissolve age barriers through hands-on intergenerational projects, and instill pride in their communities by creating lasting legacies through vibrant informational mosaics. Its major emphasis is environmental education. Its major goal is to create a region-wide public art classroom in ecology with the participation of thousands of students. To date, over 70 of these mosaics can be found in museums, schools, and other public institutions. SOURCE
