Re-opened on 18 April 1923, partially replacing an earlier bridge that has fallen into disrepair this was paid for by the local council to return a bit of history to as it should be.

Originally it was built to give the richer people living just out of town over the River Dee in the suburbs in the Victorian ere a quick way of walking over to the park and town centre.
