Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet is set in Verona. Nobody knows whether the bard actually made it to the city or not, but the locals believe he did and this balcony is supposed to be where the famous scene happened:

"But soft! What light through yonder window breaks?
It is the East, and Juliet is the sun! "

The House of Juliet museum is a medieval building, owned by the Del Capello (Capulet) family since the 1200s. Since the 1200s, this place has been a place of pilgrimage for travellers, including notables such as Charles Dickens.

The building has been restored a number of times over the years, and is now a museum.
