The Superior 71 Drive-In Theater is one of only three outdoor movie theaters in the state of Iowa. The theater was built in 2008 using the screen of a former Estherville Drive-In, re-opening the opportunity for nostalgic entertainment so popular in the 1950’s and 60’s. Located 6 miles east of the Spirit Lake vacationland, the Superior 71 Drive-In Theater offers a fun night of entertainment under the stars. Double features are offered for one price, and pop, juices, coffee, popcorn, hot dogs, nachos, fries, chips, etc. are available at the concession stand. There is room for several hundred cars to fan out in front of the 90’ screen. Gone are the antiquated speakers that used to hang on the car windows; the sound now comes through the FM channel on the car radio.
