Born in Sussex County, New Jersey, in 1758 to a Prussian father and Dutch mother, Philip Clover, Sr. served in the Pennsylvania Militia as a Private. He came to the area which was then Armstrong County and set up shop as a tanner and shoemaker. He is my fifth great grandfather.
