This is at the site of the first capitol for the State of Missouri from 1821-1826.

The buildings at this site were used as a temporary capitol. The
state legislature met in these buildings from June 4,1821, to Oct. 1,1826 to
reorganize the state from it's territorial past into a progressive state.
