This type of Victorian is always the most interesting. Naturally, it has a mansard roof. Windows and entrances jut out here and there, unnecessarily complicated but attractive in its complexity. One of my favorite details is the three angled/window bay window which just out into the front yard. The porch runs deep to the back with a very narrow front. The house has southeaster exposure, perpendicular to the street. There are kinds of half dormers, slightly jutting out from the mansard roof, which itself, seems to be in two separate sections. Interesting makeup for a roof. The colors, tan, red and green and somewhat drab considering some of the colors used in this era but are nicely complimentary anyway. The home owner has the poor sense to not have his address anywhere in sight. Stupid move.

Byrne, National Register Database Manager (John_Byrne@nps.gov), Department of the Interior. This narrative was created March 16, 1979, mailed in to Washington, D.C. and evaluated April 18, 1980 and finally approved on July 21, 1982. Thanks to this designation and the efforts of the community to stop developers in the early 70s, Haddonfield is permanently protected and is one of the best example of an intact Colonial America, this 90 year old property notwithstanding.
3 story frame mid-Victorian dwelling with bay window, wraparound open porch. Mansard third floor. Interesting Victorian details in cornice work. Heavy massive double oak doors with designed transom above.
