A square milestone with a triangular top, made of Portland Stone set in the pavement on the west side of the A243 Leatherhead Road. Almost opposite Chalky Lane. Right outside the North Car Parks for the Chessington World of Adventures
Inscriptions:
South East Face - TO SURBITON 3 MILES, KINGSTON 4 MILES
North East Face - TO LEATHERHEAD 4 MILES, DORKING 9 MILES
Top - ROYAL EXCHANGE 17 MILES
Front - WHITEHALL 15¼ MILES, HYDE PARK 14 MILES
The front face also has this inscription - PARISH OF CHESSINGTON
It also has a cut benchmark on the back.
As we were in the area we could not resist visiting and waymarking this one. Better than the usual square flat topped variety I usually find.
