Due to its relative isolation, but situated on a major transportation corridor, Richfield has evolved into the de facto regional capital of central Utah. People travel from miles around to partake of those services or facilities normally only found in larger urban areas.

All of Richfield's neighboring communities are quite small, typically under 1000 inhabitants each. So Richfield has become the urban hub of these small towns, offering amenities that small towns can't support on their own.
