From the co-ordinates, close to the car park take a gentle stroll along the track in a north easterly direction. At the top of the rise you get a magnificent view of Stonehenge against the skyline.

Looking east you can see King Barrows ridge with its burial mounds. Between the Ridge and where you are standing is the route of "The Avenue" that leads to the heel stone of Stonehenge. There is little remaining of "The Avenue" but, if you have access to Google Earth, you can see the parallel lines leading north east from the heel stone where marking the width of "The Avenue".

Looking west, you can see the "Cursus Barrows". A footpath leads towards them enabling you to investigate closer.

Adjacent to the fence, where you are standing, is an information panel entitled "Stonehenge Down". This includes some useful information of which the following are extracts:

"The Avenue
The Avenue was a wide track built and used by early Bronze Age people as a processional route to Stonehenge..."

"Ancient Burial Places
There are over 340 Bronze Age barrows or burial mounds in the area, some of which are still visible..."
