An old Historical Marker vital to the life of John Bunyan; a famous figure of Bedfordshire.

The plaque is slightly discoloured and lies on the northern end of the Town Bridge opposite The Swan Hotel. It reads as follows:

'On the shallow East of the 3rd Pier
of the Bridge
stood the Stone-House
wherein BUNYAN imprisoned
1675 - 1676
wrote the first part of the
Pilgrim's Progress.
"As I slept I dreamed a dream"

John Bunyan was a figure of immense, religious importance and lived between 1628 - 1688. When he began preaching his Puritan beliefs he was arrested and taken to gaol.
