Display sign reads: "This is one of two octagonal privies that symmetrically flank the main house. Jefferson designed these domed necessaries using the same rules of architectural proportion as the main house. Some features have been restored: chestnut shingle roof, louvered lunette windows, door, and stairs. The child's seat was installed after Jefferson's time.
