The Peabody Township Carnegie Library is one of sixty-three Carnegie funded libraries built in Kansas. A library association had been created in Peabody in 1874 and the Carnegie library replaced and earlier library the town had out grown. The community received a $10,000 Carnegie Library grant in 1913 and the library construction was completed in 1914. The one-story buff brick Neo-Classical styled building was designed by architect A.A. Crowell and built by M.R. Stauffer. The building continues to serve as the community's library and is well maintained.
The library was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987.
