This house is now an inn and is on the National Register of Historic places.
In 1846, Brannan and over 200-240 other Latter-day Saints boarded the Brooklyn ship in New York and set out for California. Arriving 5 months later in Yerba Buena (now San Francisco), they realized that Yerba Buena had became part of the United States. Brannan set up the California Star and was the first mission president of the California LDS Mission. He was also the founder of Calistoga, CA.
