The City of Glendale maintains three Vierendeel Truss Bridges spanning the Verdugo Wash. This one is located at the Geneva Street crossing of the Verdugo Creek. The bridges are of exact size, shape, and material and were designed in 1937 by the Army Corps of Engineers and Built by Consolidated Steel Corp. in 1938 as part of the Corps' Verdugo Flood Control Project.
The marker text simply reads, "War Department - U.S. Engineer Dept. - 1938"
A second plaque on the bridge reads Consolidated Steel Corp. Los Angeles Calif 1938.
