Most people walk the Dalesway by starting here in Ilkley and heading off to Bowness-on-Windermere in the Lake district.

Start from here and it’s your last chance to sit down for a while. However it’s of most use to people walking the other way round and provides a place to rest your legs at the end.

The head at the end of the bench is based on a sandstone carving of head in the Manor House museum in Ilkley. It is thought that the head dates back to Saxon times, which cover the period between the 5th and 11th Century.
