Back in the 70’s there was the “Old Home” bread commercial with a catchy jingle that took place at this Pisgah café. Country singer C.W. McCall sang a song about his time as a trucker who frequented this popular spot to catch a quick meal and talk to Mavis when she brought him the menu. Over the years Mavis must have sold the place to Dave, but it will always sing in our hearts as the “Old Home Filler-Up An’ Keep On A-Truckin’ Café.” McCalls song was one of an album full of CB and Trucking songs and can be found on his “C. W. McCall’s Greatest Hits” and “The Best of C.W. McCall.” The Sioux City Journal wrote an excellent article telling about the cafe, the commercial and its significance to the tourists it attracts.
The café is located on the corner of 1st Street and County Road F-20 in the tiny community of Pisgah. Their BLT’s are the greatest!
