Vodník je jedna z nejznámejších postav ceských pohádek a povestí. Jde o ztelesnení ducha vody, a proto se povesti o nem vyskytují prakticky všude, kde se nachází nejaká vodní plocha, at už jde o jezero, rybník, reku nebo potok.
Podle lidové démonologie je vodník (podobne jako cert) padlý andel, který pri svržení z nebe spadl do vody.

Waterman is one of the most famous figures of Czech fairy tales and legends. It is the embodiment of the spirit of water, and therefore the reputation of it found virtually everywhere there is a body of water, whether it's a lake, pond, river or stream.
According to popular demonology is Water Sprite (like hell), a fallen angel who was dropped from the sky fell into the water.
