The toll house lies at 62 High Street and is on the Royston to Cambridge road originally built (it is supposed) for the Royston to Wandesford Bridge (South District) Turnpike Trust. The identifying feature lies with the protruding front adjacent to the footpath today.

There are two storeys and the extension on the north side covers the old weighbridge which was also here. This had a mechanism to check the weight of wagons.

The road was a Toll Road from 1793 to 1872 and the tollgate keeper's house was built in 1811.
