The sign, located by the side of the road, depicts the church at Clavering, painted in the centre of the sign. Around the painted centre are carved clover leaves and the village name Clavering. Clavering means “place where the clover grows.”

The sign was erected in 1997 and was carved by Michael Fisher and painted by Lynette Merrick. Below the sign is a plaque which reads:-
