The Rob Roy is one of the oldest hotel structures still in exixtence in the city. It has traded continously under this name since first being licensed in 1840. the western and oldest wing of the hotel dates from the 1840's and although refaced in 1926, it retains its traditional disposition of openings. The eastern section with a cantilevered balcony was erected in 1881, to a design by architects English and Soward
