This Queen Anne house with characteristic corner tower was built around 1895 by Robert Menzel (1845-1923). A Prussian immigrant, he founded the Menzel hardware company the in 1875.
Menzel served on the Santa Clara Board of Education, library trustees and as city treasurer. On the volunteer fire department for over 40 years, he became chief In 1901.
