A Civil War soldier standing holding a rifle in both hands and resting its butt on the ground. The mustached figure wears a cap and a knee-length coat and cape. He rests on his proper right leg with proper left leg slightly bent. This figure stands atop a large rectangular bronze pedestal, which, in turn, rests a series of stacked rectangular stone blocks of varying sizes. On the lower face of the base is a bronze plaque with a carved stone cross and band of inlaid stars."
