These welcome lions are very common in Korea where there is a very active Lions organization. The inscription on the side says simply, "Welcome" and the front inscription reads, "Cheongcheon Lions Club."
Cheongcheon is a small village in south Chungcheong Province, the only landlocked province in South Korea. This rural area in Goesan County is noted for its high quality red pepper production. The village is often a stopping place for tourists headed to the nearby Songnisan National Park and the scenice Whayang Valley.
