Official Description:
A uniformed Confederate soldier stands at parade rest with arms bent, hands converging to grasp his musket, proper left hand over proper right hand. The butt of the rifle rests parallel to his proper left foot. He is in field uniform, wearing a wide-brimmed field hat, a canteen hanging by his proper left hip, a field pouch at the small of his back. At his proper left hip is a small pouch or perhaps a holster. He is mounted atop an elaborate, tapered upper base with castellated top, and bas-reliefs of a cannon, crossed muskets, a castle, and crossed sabers. The lower base is larger and quadrilateral, with polished columns on each corner. Around all four corners of the lower base are thirteen shields, each with the name of a Confederate state.
