Monument depicts Civil War soldier Richard Rowland Kirkland stooping down, holding up a soldier wounded on the ground, offering him water from his canteen. Both men are in uniform, with Kirkland wearing a hat with front and rear bill sections bent upwards. The sculpture is mounted on a rectangular base.
