At 32 Quincy Street, on the site currently occupied by the Fogg Art Museum, once stood the home of Louis & Elizabeth Agassiz. The plaque, which stands in front of the building, reads:

"Louis and Elizabeth Agassiz - Swiss naturalist Louis Agassiz (1807-1873) and Elizabeth Cabot Cary Agassiz (1822-1907), first president of Radcliffe College, lived in a house on this site from 1854 to 1907."

Louis Agassiz was the first to scientifically propose that Earth had experienced an Ice Age.

Visit Instructions:
When logging a Massachusetts Historic Marker, we ask that you not only describe your visit, but to upload a picture from it. But a photo of you standing next to the marker or a photograph the subject of the marker - those are examples of possible photographs to upload.
