Inside the Castle View Visitor Centre is an interactive display of the local rock found in the area.

There is a view of where the rock originated with a landscape shot of the natural area and below this is a selection of the actual rock available to touch and examine.
Included in the display are Kimmeridge Clay, Limestone, Wealden Clay, Chalk and Bagshot Beds. These are described below:
Kimmeridge Clay was used for Prehistoric and Roman jewellery. In the area the dark shales of this clay are used for tapping into the underlying oil.
Limestone is the famous Purbeck Stone used for building some of the finest buildings and structures in the world.
Wealden Clay can be found to the south of Corfe, forming fertile, arable land.
Chalk encourages short-cropped, grassy downland and is managed by The National Trust by careful grazing to preserve the habitat.
Bagshot Beds are the Purbeck's lowland heaths and contain some of Britain's rarest habitats and species.
A large ammonite is displayed in the entrance of the centre. These are found locally with many at Kimmeridge, a fossil-hunting paradise.
