The NE corner of the land deeded the Proprietors by the Six Nations in great council at Albany July 6, 1754, was 1 mile north of Penns Creek. It ran thence "North of the West as far as your Province extends."
The area south of Penn's Creek was part of William Penn's initial land grant. Conrad Weiser and Chief Shikellamy negotiated the Treaty of Albany that gave the Commonwealth all the land North of Penn's Creek to the New York border to the state.
