There was a great fire in the year 1540. This fire burned down a huge part of the houses around the marketplace of Tübingen, Germany, Baden-Württemberg. 69 houses have been destroyed by fire.

There's a memorial writing on the wall of a house remebering what happend. The memorial narrates of the mayor Melcheor Metzger called "Calwer" who has rebuilt this house after the fire.
