Bryant is located in Hamlin County, South Dakota, on SD Highway 28. It has a population of 376 as of July 2009. This reflects a 5% decrease in population from the 2000 census.

While the town was not incorporated until 1912, the school was started in 1904. A picture of the school is etched on the monument in front of this bell.

The school building itself went through many transitions over the years and in 1972 it became Hamlin school and increased the school enrollment by adding more area to serve students.

In 1997 a new school building was built 4 miles west of Hayti, to be more centralized in Hamlin County and in 2002, the old school building was finally taken out of use and demolished.
