An arch in "Friendship Park" is dedicated to the sister city relationship of Johnson City, Tennessee with Guaranda, Ecuador. Located in the Metro-Kiwanis city park. The arch was constructed in 1983.

Johnson City has roughly 63,000 population (2009 est). Located in the NE corner of Tennessee. Home to East Tennessee State University. Major business are primarily medical based due to the several hospitals including Mountain Home for veterans.

Guaranda is located in central Ecuador. Also known as the "city of seven hills" due to local topography. 25,000 citizens, many Quechua Indians.
