There are three excellent examples of frieze art between the door and roof of this eloquently built fire station, constructed to look like the old Sears building which burned years ago.

The beautiful firehouse is more work of art than functional emergency structure. There are two examples located above each bay door. The name of the fire company is in complicated script, frieze style. At the very top is an intricate shield surrounded by two human figures, one headless. There is a ship on the shield and a scale on it as well with the inscription Philadelphia Maneto which means "Let Brotherly Love Continue". This frieze is actually the Philadelphia Coat of Arms.

With regards to the last frieze, I found the following description on Wikipedia. Azure, a fess or, in chief a plough, in base, a ship in full sail, both proper. Crest: a nude right arm holding a pair of scales (representing justice). Supporters: two female figures, on the right side (observer's left), dressed in white and purple robes, crowned with an olive wreath and holding a scroll charged with an anchor in her right hand; on the left side (observer's right) is the goddess Ceres, dressed in white and blue robes holding a cornucopia in her left hand. The motto on a scroll below is "Philadelphia Maneto" ("Let Brotherly Love Continue")

From my previous waymark:

This fire house was designed as a miniture copy of the old Sears & Roebuck building that used to stand on the site of the Home Depot parking lot. It even has a small tower on top. The name of the firehouse appears twice, in fancy relief script, large letters, over both pay doors. There is no information available anywhere and the area was a little too risky to stay behind and find additional information. I did notice there is a practice tower in the rear for fire personnel to train. The station is easily accessible a it is directly off of the Roosevelt Blvd., the second largest artery in Philadelphia. Parking is available street side.
