In Natick, along Bacon Street (good street address of a grocery store, huh?), is Tilly and Salvy's Bacon Street Farm, which is a small grocery store with many items that are grown or made in the area. This store was started by Tilly and Salvy Ciccarelli in 1938, and is now operated by their grandson, Rick.

The store is at 100 Bacon Street. Bacon Street is between both Route 135 and Route 9. From Route 9, go south onto Oak Street (there is a Scrub-a-Dub car wash at the intersection) to the next traffic light, then take a right. The store is about a half mile on the left. From Route 135 in Natick Center, go up Marion Road to a T intersection and take a right. The store will be about an eighth mile on your right.

The store entrance is on the left, when facing the building from the road. To the side of the building, depending on the season, you might find flowers, pumpkins, or Christmas Trees. Inside, you have the fresh produce to your left, the meats, beyond and slightly left, regular food section straight and to the right, and the counter to the right.

The staff includes local kids, as well as other relatives of the family. I had stopped by to buy some food for a get together that afternoon. A woman, who turned out to be the owner's wife (no uniform or name tag!) lead me around to point out all sorts of things (I found just the right things). The food here is fresh and is often from farms in New England. The web site lists many foods that they have including: TT Bud's Sweet & Salty Popcorn from Natick, Cocoapelli Chocolates in Natick, fresh Scalia bread from the North End of Boston, eggs from Milford, and honey from Holliston. In addition, they sell organic beef and other products.

One of the things they are known for is that you can take a pretzel stick to snack on while you shop!

The store is open daily from 7 am to 9 pm.
