The sign explains it all:
"Green Mountain Energy Solar at the Waco Chamber of Commerce
If you could see the roof of the Chamber building, you'd see something amazing…a solar array generating clean power. Donated by customers in Green Mountain Energy Company's Big Texas Sun Club, the 9.6 kW array generates enough pollution-free electricity to power approximately 6.5% of the building's annual electrical usage.
Each year this solar array can avoid more than 26,500 lbs. of carbon dioxide (CO2) -- a greenhouse gas that contributes to global warming. That's like:
-Not driving almost 30,000 miles a year
-Planting more than 1,500 trees
-Recycling more than 66,000 aluminum cans!"
Interestingly, there's also a small solar panel right over the sign that apparently powers the landscape lights in the garden area.
