From New York: A Guide to the Empire State as part of Tour 26 (U.S. Route 104):
The FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, two blocks S. of Center St., a stuccoed stone structure with pointed arch windows and doors, was begun in 1817. The portico with its four Doric columns and the belfry are later Greek Revival additions.
Contrary to the Guide, the cornerstone to the church was laid in 1830 and it appears the church wasn't completed until 1835. The church went through some tough times over the next few decades as it was sold a couple and bought back. The cupola and columns were added around 1848 and a basement was excavated between 1906-08 to add Sunday school rooms. A large addition was added in 1965 to the east to provide a larger sanctuary, social hall, meeting rooms, and Sunday school rooms. Today the church still holds regular services.
